Everybody complains that they are stressed, whether it has to do with the economy, work,
school, or just random events that trigger feelings of stress and anxiety. Stress is all about feeling
an intense amount of physical, emotional, and psychological pressure. While it is in itself an
unpleasant experience, the true danger of stress is that it can lead to several health complications
with adverse effects. Therefore, there is a real need to find ways to avoid stress entirely or at
least reduce it.
Research has demonstrated that there might be a link between stress and things such as
autoimmune diseases and certain cancers. It has been shown that stress can lead to stress-related disorders, such as post-traumatic stress disorder. Studies suggest that people who get a
stress-related ailment due to stress have a higher likelihood of developing auto-immune diseases, such as lupus. On the other hand, some studies have shown that having stress can lead to the
development of certain cancers. It has been suggested that people who are stressed may tend to
indulge in things like smoking and drinking, which may increase their risk of getting some cancers.
Due to the association of stress with these health complications, individuals must find a way to
avoid or reduce it. One good way of dealing with stress is increasing physical exercise and
activity. Studies have demonstrated that physical exercise and activity can lead to improved
moods and thus reduced levels of stress. Another way is through incorporating a more healthy
diet and avoiding unhealthy foods with too much sugar and fat. A healthy diet has been proven to
have a significant impact on an individual’s mental health and thus a positive effect in reducing
their stress levels. Finally, stress can be reduced and avoided by engaging in more self-care
activities, such as having a hobby, massages, and doing yoga. Spending more time with family
and friends can also help tremendously.
